Lamentations for America

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

I grieve over my country.

  • I grieve over its moral collapse.
  • I grieve over its moral myopia.
  • I grieve over its narcissism.
  • I grieve over the aggressive promotion of all things corrupt and evil.
  • I grieve over its corruption and destruction of its children.
  • I grieve over the 50 million children whose lives have been terminated to serve “a woman’s right to choose”—over 4,100 per day. Do the math. American women have killed more than all American combat deaths since the founding of the republic. Who knows whether in that number was the one who would have cured cancer, or AIDS, or any number of other terrible problems?
  • “… The wicked walk on every side, when what is vile is exalted among the sons of men.” —Psalm 12:7-8
  • Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” —Isaiah 5:20
  • “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” —Psalm 11:3
  • “For the LORD is righteous. He loves righteousness. The upright shall see his face.” —Psalm 11:7

What should believers be doing?

Friday, July 4th, 2008

According to John 14:12-14, believers should be doing what Jesus did.

“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I am doing he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to the Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, in order that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” —John 14:12-14

Computer software is, in reality, a very long sequence of numbers, each of which has a value between 0 and 255, called a “byte”, consisting of eight binary (0 or 1) digits each called a “bit”. Software runs in hardware, but we’ll leave that part out of the present discussion.

IOU or UOMe

Have you ever said to someone, “You owe me big time for that!?”

Or has anyone ever said that to you?

Do you still remember that mean kid in the third grade who bullied you?

Do you have other “raw nerve” memories?

Life In The Last Lane: How to live in the end of the age

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

You are waiting for a bus. You know that it’s already turned onto your street, so you know it won’t be long until it’s here. You can see it way down at the far end of the street.

So, what should you do? Should you:

  • Go take a nap?
  • Go take a shower?
  • Walk the dog?
  • Get on your computer and check your email, or log into a chat room?
  • Put the DVD into your DVD player and start watching that movie that you had wanted to see?
  • Get into an argument with your neighbor over the backyard fence?
